The Earth (ground) is a leveler. It has the ability to absorb as well as to exude energy. It can absorb negative energy and exude positive energy. In that sense, the earth is also a dynamic, magical entity.

When you are in touch with the earth, walking bare foot in the grass early in the morning with the dew still glittering delicately on it, you get recharged by the earth’s energy. Sitting for a few minutes on the ground (or the floor) also gives the earth a chance to let her positive, healing energy flow into you.

When you are grounded, you never carry and excess of negative energy nor are ever lacking in positive energy. You are in a state of exquisite balance and equilibrium. In times of turmoil, you remain in a state of equilibrium, no matter what the nature of the cataclysm.

Get yourself grounded and you can navigate even the stormiest roads in peace.

They say the physical fitness of you body is measured, not by how many miles you can run or how much iron you can pump, but by the time it takes your body to return to normal (breathing, heart beat etc) after a grueling work- out. The faster you can bounce back, the healthier you are.

This is an effective criterion with which to measure the health of your inner drive and enthusiasm. How soon after a setback are you able to bounce back to your normal enthusiasm levels? Does every set back throw you to the bottom of an abyss from where you must begin a long, arduous climb back to level ground? Does the smallest victory send you spinning off to outer space from where it takes you ages to float back to earth and continue on your journey?

The people who keep you grounded, real friends and family (sometimes), keep them close at hand. They have the ability to tell you how it is. When need be, they will climb down the abyss to haul you up by your ears or step out of a space shuttle to thrust you down to earth with a firm hand on your shoulder.

But it turns out that people who are grounded and secure don’t change much under stress. That’s what being grounded means.

On your journey to your North Star, you will encounter many setbacks and victories. The closer you stay to earth when these events happen, the less time you will waste. Taking things in your stride is a mighty useful trick to have up your sleeve. The lack of this ability alone has spelled the difference between victory and defeat for many a traveler.

Take time out to get grounded everyday. Lie down on the grass or on the floor. Talk to your grounder friend or family. Let them soothe your fears. Let them fill you up with verve. Let them balance you out and recharge you everyday.

So, how do you stay Grounded?

I do a lot of reading, meditating, and praying to stay as grounded as I can be in this crazy world.
