The Challenge…
55-word microfiction.
Themes: Love, Hate, Jealousy, Greed/ Gluttony, Philandering.
Love
He calls me Ragini. I’m not just an inanimate flute to him. I come to life in his hands. I breathe with his breath and sing to the music in his soul.. matching him… beat for beat, rhythm for rhythm. I desire nothing but to belong to him—to draw my life from his lips.
Hate
There are times when he seems sunk in a stupor. Such periods last for weeks. Those days he shuns me as if he can’t bear to look at me. He feels guilty for abandoning me and punishes himself for doing it. I could happily kill it, this thing that makes him do this to us.
Jealousy
Three weeks ago he bought himself a sitar. Since then, he has spent every moment of his time with her—calling her DHUN. When I see his fingers moving over her, caressing her, sliding over her wires, I pray she would disintegrate into dust. There, he is at her again! I can’t bear it anymore!
Greed
Dhun has come undone! 🙂 He is with me again, every moment he can spare. He carries me in his pocket, keeps me at his lips all day. I sing my heart out. Yet, there is no peace in my soul. I want more of him… until he pours his being into me and fills my hollowness.
Philandering
His brother is such a hunk! I’ve been in a delirium since he put me to his lips. His fingers move over me in a way I have never experienced. I didn’t know I knew the songs he makes me sing. I hope he stays for a few days. Just… for a change of taste. 🙂

Note: The flute symbolizes man’s creative ability and passion. These stories are the voice of that passion… for once coming to life… making themselves heard. All except the last one. That didn’t really fit. But the challenge demanded it.
Dagny! promise me you wouldn’t laugh at my stupid comment. 😀 😀
Dhun is just a “walker” in the flute player’s life..a temporary fling! 😉
Once the flute player finds it hard that he can’t strum his song on Dhun as he played it on flute, he goes back to his old flame, the flute, ‘cos that is where his creative passion rests! 😉
Naturally, his flute is hurt..wants to take revenge. then the hung comes along and the flute flirts with him for a while.. not wholeheartedly though! 🙁
Hurt, dumped and ignored by the one she thought her soul mate, lover and life giver , she let the new flame fiddle with her! 🙂 … It’s like “he did it so I did!!” Kinda revenge he he..
Anyway, the affair is short lived. The flute and the man get back together again! 🙂
love and regards

Bharthi,
And why exactly is this comment ‘stupid’..? More or less this is what I was trying to convey. Btw, this was one of Bina’s tag games… 😀
Love and hugs,
